Kids Never Lie.
After five years of
reading these stories to K-5 children, I learned a very important
fact. All children have something to say about their grandparents.
The grandparents either live very far away and the child is sad
because he rarely gets to see them. Or the grandparents are a
constant feature in his life and he loves it, often bragging about
visits and things they do together.
Then there is the
other story. The child whose parents are not very stable in one way
or another and whose grandparents bring a little bit of normalcy
into his life. These infrequent visits are lifelines; the importance
of which I cannot begin to stress. I was just such a child.
So when I had
children, my goals were to live a stable lifestyle and let them see
their grandparents as often as they wanted. These stories are based
on that loving relationship that I observed my children having with
their father’s parents and the relationship I had with the only
grandfather I ever knew.
These stories honor
the role grandparents play in the lives of our children. I hope you
enjoy reading them to your kids and grandkids as much as I have
enjoyed writing them. Heroes Need Practice, Too! is
only the first in the series.
